Half way up the Y by sunrise. I was pretty gripped at this point. We came upon a huge debris pile at the bottom of the couloir in the dark….the whole thing must have flushed out during the storm. You could tell where it slid by all the sections of exposed ice at 45-50 degrees. Im no ice climber so i was out of my element to say the least.

Thanks to my rock climber buddies, I persevered and made it to the powder boot pack.

At 55 degrees, I was surprised that this chest deep pow was even stuck on the slope.

Underneath it all was a slick crust so it made for some pretty interesting steeps.

And the last push to the top. Dan holding on for life.

Made it!! There was no talk of goin back down the Y seeing as most of the pow was piled up at the bottom.

So we ventured out into Coalpit. The Headwall and Lightning Ridge to the left.

Millions of people below….. but nobody up here.

Twin Peaks Lisa Falls Couloir and the Sunrise Peak south face. Some pretty serious mountaineering ascents that few people get after.

And as I look up, I see some pro skiers ripping down the headwall. The first two guys were goin mach 7 down the gut of the east chutes. The 3rd is the little dot in the middle. Killing it!

Traversed a cliffed out chute.

And into Coalpit Gulch.

Surfs up.

Yeaaa boyyeeee.

Into the halfpipe.

And down the waterfall.

A little dicey but not as gripper as it seems.

And more halfpipe to the Great White Icicle parking.

Lookin back up the Y at the end of the day, our boot pack was the only tracks on the couloir….. and for good reason.
