Big Cottonwood Canyon: Spruces trailhead, up Mill D to the top of Tom’s and down Birthday Chute to Uncle John’s Band and out.

Elevations: 7,300′ – 9,330′

I heard about a big slide near Brighton on the 8th and thought i’d check it out. Triggered by the first snowboarder on the face and caught, carried and buried the second rider.

Zoomed out. The debris pile out of the frame was 12 feet deep. The only reason that kid didnt get underneath of all of that is because his board caught a tree and snapped so he was able to punch out of the snow when it settled.

Some avy pros doin a crown profile and incident report. The guys who triggered it were on one of the most dangerous elevations and aspects possible right now with no beacons…. nice move.

So we headed up the “Rest Home” for some untracked goods. Where can i get one of those mini cats?

Almost to the top with Reynolds Peak in the background.

A little wind blown up top but once you got off the ridge…

Stopped by Uncle John’s Band.

Great taste, more filling.

Theres eyes in them thur hills.

Kevin goin for a swim in the creek on his way to the fallen tree.

Goin for it.

Ooo taco.

He meant to do that. Just taking out some branches for the next try.

Maybe not.
