Little Cottonwood Canyon: White Pine trailhead to White Pine, Red Pine and upper Maybird to the Obelisk and back.

Elevations: 7,500′ – 10,600′

Gettin started with Snowbird and Alta in the background. The trailhead is down where you can see the road.

Round the corner into Red.

Tanners. Somebody already broke trail up to the top.

Turtle.

Climbing up into Maybird, you could see the tram at Snowbird.

Mad snowpack creep. Everything went downhill a foot or so.

Found the spot with the target in view.

Set up camp.

And got ready for shredding.

It doesnt get much better than this…

Mmmm dinner. Thanks for the lasagna Adriano!

Woke up and knew what needed to be done.

Melted some water for the day and had some breakfast.

We had a super fun tree run down to the base of the Obelisk and made our snowpit. After running a few stability tests, we felt pretty confident about our line. Adriano has his own guiding company that does ski tours, ice climbing and big wall climbing. Needless to say, I was able to learn a few things. Right now, its so hard to trigger anything but if you do, its going to be BIG.

So we climbed the ridge.

For some amazing views into Hogum. The Sliver and the Hypodermic Needle already had some tracks.

Kept it goin all the way to the top.

The upper ridges had some cool wind graphics.

Yeaaa. Made it.

Dropping!

Theres no better feeling than standing at the bottom of a line. You can see where i blasted off a rock onto my face haha.

Skinned back up to the site, ripped down the camp and headed for the road.

I ended up slamming into another rock and gave my split a serious battle wound. Snow kept tearing the p-tex off so i had to ride switch to the car with 60 lbs on my back.

All in all, it was an epic trip
