….the backcountry is on hold.

Our snowpack right now is definitely a sketchy one to say the least. New snow and wind deposits are covering up a nasty crust layer that is sandwiched by two layers of facets. With widespread human triggered slides all over the mountain range, its all about finding pow in bounds. Most of the good stuff is closed as you can see above.

A 27 year-old named Heather Grouse was buried and killed in a tragic avalanche accident in-bounds at Snowbird and a skier in a touring party was buried and injured near Desolation Lake. Slides were also reported in the Monitors on the PC ridgeline and the Meadow Chutes of upper Silver Fork with nobody caught.

Still able to find some fresh lines at Soli.
